2025 Bray Cares Grant Recipient
Many of our guests work. However, it is not always easy for some to get a good night’s sleep in a large shelter setting. By offering a location where there is less noise, more space between people and volunteers who sit down and have dinner with them, listen to their needs and give them a sense of belonging, it was easier for our guests to take better temporary jobs and work for more money.
This is an important benefit of our program. Our guests were better able to keep their commitments during the day as they had less stress once they settled in for the evening. We have had guests who were on the autism spectrum, those with varying disabilities and others who just could not share walls well with others due to medical and other diagnoses.
“Peace is not something you wish for; it’s something you make, something you do, something you are, and something you give away.”
